SPECIAL PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN ON NATIONAL IODINE DEFICIENCY
DISORDER CONTROL PROGRAMME

The Field Publicity Unit, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India,
Tezpur (Assam) in collaboration with a local NGO, Agrogami, organized a three day
long publicity campaign on National Iodine Deficiency Disorder Control Progrmame at
Rajabari, Komarchuburi and Puthimari area under Dhekiajuli Development Block on
December 27, 28 and 29, 2005 respectively. The programmes were Healthy Baby show,
Public meeting, Photographic exhibition, display and distribution of publicity materials,
screening of film shows among the people of respective areas.
Dr. Pranjal Borah, Medical and Health Officer, Ulubari, PHC discussed the use of
Iodized salt. He urged upon the people to consume only iodized salt as absence of iodine
may cause various ailments in the human body.
Among other speakers Shri Dinchand Bordoloi, Dilip Kumar Nandi, Debicharan
Neog, Dharmeswar Nath, Doyal Das, Smt. Dipali Bora, Smt. Hirannya Das, Ranji Borah,
Smt. Mrinalini Devi actively participated in the programme. Shri B.K. Paul, Incharge
Field Publicity Officer, Tezpur explained the aim and objective of the programme in his
introductory speech.
Attractive prizes were also distributed by the Field Publicity Officer, DFP, Tezpur
unit to the selected babies according to their immunization status.
