TWO DAY ORIENTATION WORKSHOP ON CONSUMER AWARENESS

The Song & Drama Division, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India is organizing a two-day Orientation Workshop on Consumer Awareness at the Pandit Tirthanath Sharma Auditorium in the city from today.
At the inaugural session, Justice Shri P.C. Phookan, Chairman, Assam Consumer Redressal Commission speaking as the Chief Guest said that a consumer had rights as well as responsibilities, which extended to a wide range of fields. He complimented the Song & Drama Division for organizing the workshop, which would go a long way in making the public informed about the exercise of their rights as a consumer, through the medium of Song and Drama.
Shri K. C. Gogoi, President, Kamrup District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum delivering his speech stated that every person is a consumer who must be made! aware of his or her rights.
Earlier, Shri R.S.Gauri, Deputy Director, Song & Drama Division, Guwahati delivered the Keynote address. The workshop is being organized by the Song & Drama Division in collaboratioin with the Department of Consumer Affairs (Consumer Protection Unit), Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution in coordination with Department of Civil Supplies, Govt. of Assam. A total of 600 programmes will be presented all over the North Eastern Region. Out of these, 150 programmes each in Assam and Manipur, 50 programmes each in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Meghalaya, and 75 each programmes in Mizoram and Tripura would be presented in association with the District Administration and District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum of the districts. As part of this, the two day Orientation Programme is being organised for the State of Assam, Meghalaya & Arunachal Pradesh.
