Information Campaign on RTI Act needed in all places of Arunachal Pradesh

State Government should organize information campaign on Right to Information Act in all places of Arunachal Pradesh. This will help people know about the Act. This was stated by Shri Habung Payeng, State Information Commissioner at Lida village today.
Addressing the public information campaign on Bharat Nirman programmes organized by Press Information Bureau and other media units of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Shri Payeng talked about of RTI Act in detail and requested people to avail the Act for the benefit of the society. He said that like other states, Arunachal Pradesh State Information Commission has also been formed in the State and started functioning. He showed different forms of RTI Act and explained how to use the same for obtaining information from Government departments. He said that every information seeker has to pay the cost of forms at the prescribed. Speaking about the action taken by the Commission in the State, he said that several actions have been initiated by the Commission against some PIOs for not furnishing required information to the applicants. He hoped that the Act will bring revolution in the functioning of Government departments.
Addressing the meeting on RTI Act, Shri Bani Danggen, State Information Commissioner, Arunachal Pradesh State Information Commission said that this is a unique Act, which will reduce corruption in the state. He advised the people to avail the Act.
Addressing the meeting as resource person on NRHM, Dr. Tale Gongo, District Reproductive Child Health Officer said the main objective of the Mission is provide health care facilities to the rural people. Under the scheme, a health worker called ASHA has been appointed. ASHA should be informed of all health related problems who will bring them to PHCs and Sub-Centres. Dr. Gongo also talked about other health issues like malaria, PPI, family planning, safe delivery of babies etc. Dr. Gongo urged upon the pregnant mothers to avail Janani Suraksha Yojana while delivering babies.
Addressing as resource person on NREGA, Shri Nabu Chokar, Assistant Project Officer, DRDA said that Upper Subansiri District has been declared as one of the 200 NREGA districts in the country. Accordingly, NREGA scheme has been started in the district. Job cards have been issued and card holders are now entitled for 100 days employment in a year. He requested panchayat leaders and Gaon Buras to help Rural Development department in creating community asset under the scheme.
Speaking as resource person on SSA, Shri B. Sorum, Coordinator, SSA, Daporijo said that the objective of SSA to give free and compulsory educate to children of 6 to 14 years. Accordingly Village Education Committees have been formed to look after the welfare of education of the children. Many schemes have been initiated to implement SSA in the district. Class rooms have been constructed to accommodate more students in the school. He appealed parents to send their children to school for their better future.
Shri D. Lida, Ex. Anchal Samiti Member of Lida village and Shri Jumpak Uli, Head Master, Govt. Middle School, Lida also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier Shri Tako Dupit, District Art & Culture Officer-cum-DIPRO welcomed the participants. While Shri S. J. Choudhury, FPO, Along offered vote of thanks, Shri P. Sonowal, FPO, Ziro anchored the progarmme.
Cultural programme based on major themes was also presented by Song and Drama Division on the occasion.
